Support for Men
A group for men supporting a partner or family member through perimenopause
If someone you love is going through perimenopause, you've probably picked up bits and pieces - from her, on social media, from well-meaning friends. But it's hard to understand from the outside, and there's very little support out there for the people trying to help her through it.
This is a small, closed group for men who want to understand what's actually happening, get practical ways to help, and have space to talk about what this has been like for them too.
Why this, why now
Most of what's written about perimenopause is written for women experiencing it. What's missing is somewhere for the people around her (partners, sons, brothers, close friends) to properly understand it, and to be honest about how it affects them as well.
This isn't only about helping her. Supporting someone through this can take a real toll of its own, and this group allows space for you to think about looking after your own wellbeing as well as understanding hers.
I bring the same clinical grounding to this group that I bring to my 1:1 work: a specialism in perimenopause, not generic wellbeing content repackaged for a male audience.
What’s covered
Four sessions, combining clear information with real space to talk
-
The biology and range of symptoms, but with particular focus on the psychological side: mood changes, anxiety, brain fog, and the emotional toll that often gets overlooked in favour of the physical.
We'll cover what's going on hormonally, how it connects to what she's experiencing psychologically, and why the experience varies so much from one woman to the next.
The aim is to leave with a clear, grounded picture of what she's dealing with, mentally as well as physically, not just a list of hot flushes.
-
Communication and connection, what helps and what doesn't, without turning it into blame on either side.
We'll look at how perimenopause can shift mood, patience, and intimacy within a relationship, and how easy it is to misread hormonal changes as something personal.
You'll leave with a clearer sense of what's her and what's the hormones, and some straightforward ways to communicate that don't add pressure to either of you.
-
Conversations, appointments, and the everyday moments where support gets tested. We'll cover how to approach GP appointments and HRT conversations alongside her, what to say (and what not to) in the moment, and how to navigate workplace or family pressures that come with it.
The focus is on practical, usable steps rather than abstract advice.
-
Dedicated space to talk about your own experience of all this: the helplessness, the frustration, the things you don't usually get asked about.
Many men carry guilt for feeling frustrated, or struggle with not knowing how to help.
This session gives that its own room, alongside space to think about your own wellbeing and how you're managing, not just hers.
What this looks like in practice

Why work with me?
I'm Dr Menah Raven-Ellison, a coach and BABCP-accredited CBT practitioner with a PhD from Queen Mary University of London. I have 17 years' clinical experience across the NHS and private practice, and my specialism is perimenopause. I understand both the clinical reality of what's happening and what helps the people around it.
That means this group isn't just awareness-raising. It's grounded in the same evidence base I use in my clinical work, in line with NICE guidance on menopause care, delivered by someone who's lived this professionally as well as personally.
Ready to take the next step?
I'll come back to you within 2 working days once you've completed a short form.
